Gustav Tears Louisiana a New One

I worked my and my employees asses off before and after Gustav. Talk about stress. First we had TS Faye, remember? The Weather Channel and other media cashed in on that one. Then we had Gustav that ripped all the electricity out of southern and central parts of the state, all the way to Monroe, La. 1. 4 or more were effected and lost their electricity for several days if not weeks depending where your house is located.
This week we had Ike, another storm, extremely large that was 600 mikes across. The biggest one yet. It hit Galveston Island as a high end Cat 2 with 110 mph wind. I live near New Orleans on the west side and we had a hell of a lot of wind for 36 or more hours with heavy rain throughout. New Orleans was 300 miles away from the eye of Ike after it made landall. I should be thankful. Just look what happened to Galveston and beyond. I think the count now is 4 million people w/o electricty in Texas and 1.9 million people up in Ohio! I don't have numbers on the states in between.

When Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Mississippi gulf coast the world for us southerners as we knew it changed forever.

This blog was spurred because of all the political, economic and social events that have taken place pre and post Katrina on the gulf coast. I think a good starting point considering it is the turn of the century. I welcome all comments and I believe in free speech so go ahead and bust a gut.
New Orleans is still reeling from a storm that took place 3 years ago. Much of the city is still ravished and untouched and continues to rot.
